We are nearly there …. in just a couple of days we will welcome past, present and future users & staff of Nant BH to the centre for a day of activity, catching up and of course, eating cake ! Those of you who have kept half an eye on the Nant BH 50th Anniversary Facebook page will have been treated to some excellent historical pics and information regarding the centre that have been pulled out of archives and sent through by past users .
Final Useful Info for Sat 8th Oct
Start time is 10am and there will be free sessions running on the Ropes courses, Zip wire, Bushcraft , Orienteering . These sessions will require parental consent so you’ll need to pitch up together to sign the form . Most of these sessions are planned to last 50 minutes . Places will be limited but we’ll do our best to get everybody doing something !
There will be Kids Trail races starting from 12noon . These will be for Under 6’s ( must run with a parent / adult ) , Under 8’s, 10’s, 12’s, 14’s and 16’s . These races are FREE to enter but each runner will need to come to the Top Classroom to register ( parents required to sign entry form ) and to receive their race numbers. We aim to given every finisher of the kids races a goody bag. Registration will be open from 10:30-11:30 am. Runners must be suitably dressed and wear trainers for off road running.
Clwb Beicio Mynydd Dyffryn Conwy are organising biking events on the day also. We have borrowed a Pump Track to keep young riders entertained and there will also be Time Trial races starting at 2pm. Registration for these races will take place in the Top Classroom from 12 until 1:30pm.
Food, Glorious Food !
The dining room will be set up all day with display boards and historical information documenting the story of Nant Bwlch Yr Haearn. There will be an opportunity to grab free Teas or Coffees here and also buy a bit of homemade cake.
From 12 o’clock there will be food available to purchase. We’ll be operating a “Food Ticket” system so for £3.50 you’ll receive a ticket that can be exchanged for either a Hog Roast roll or Soup and Sandwich ( salad and coleslaw available for both ). There’ll also be soft drinks, crisps and sweets available to purchase . When buying your food ticket , you’ll also find a range of well-priced Nant BH merchandise …. 50th Mugs, T-Shirts and much more. It will help us massively if people could turn up with change rather than just notes.
A Word about PARKING …. We are anticipating large numbers of people coming up and down the hill during the day on Saturday so firstly , take care on the road and car-share where possible. Secondly, as parking becomes limited up here we will point people in the direction of the Mine Car parks at Hafna and Cyffty. These are both within short(ish) walking distance of the centre. When these are full and we are aware that parking is an issue, we’ll have no option but to run a shuttle bus from the Bowling Green Car Park in Llanrwst ( just before the bridge heading towards Llanrwst town). We will run this “on demand” during the day to try to help people get to and from the centre. Having read this , you may be super keen and decide to walk/run/bike here!!!
Most importantly , the weather looks set to be fine on Saturday but keep an eye on it and bring a jacket if it looks like rain is on the way.
